Generations Strong

Z-Boyz Gen. III. 1985-95

Headlines across skateboard magaizines read "The Z-Boyz Eastern Invasion". The Z-Boyz popularity didn't stop at the US border, but expanded internationally. Z-Flex sent its team all over the world including Japan. Team skaters won several contests in Japan and thus the Tokyo Z-Boyz team was born.

German Bearings

The German Bearings were known to the skateboard industry as the best bearings on the market. They were designed and refined by Z-Flex and German engineers. Z-Flex actually bought out German Bearings in the 90's and was the biggest distributor of skateboard bearings in the world. Because of all this, many "bearing only" companies were born.

Z-Rails

Z-Rails was a concept that directly came from our "Z-Grabbers". The Z-Grabbers were first designed for grabbing the board for airs, but it soon came obvious that you could incorporate not only grabbing the board better for airs but using the same hard plastic strips for sliding on coping or rails. Once again, Z-Flex was an originator of a product that became a phenomenon for this era.

Z-Roller truck, designed by Chris Pasques

The Z-Roller truck is a perfect example of Z-Flex' innovative ideas. You could have a super fun time with this truck because you could literally grind anything. This truck also carried the first ever skateboard truck patent.

Z-boyz Gen. II. 1978-80

This was a period in skateboard history where its popularity took a deep drop. While skate companies came and went, Z-Flex was one of the only original companies to ride the storm. Z-Flex with its second generation riders and innovations, continued to be the leader in the industry.

Transbeam, ridden by Polar Bear

The Transbeam was another first for Z-Flex and started a revolution within skateboarding. All of a sudden skaters were able to do the trick, "Disasters". The transbeam enabled skaters to overcome the "Hang up", therefore detouring the "slam". Imitators called this product the "Lapper" or "Birdie".

Winger Skateboard (first concave)

This is one of the most innovative products ever. You will find "Concave" on every skateboard on the market today. The Winger skateboard was the first skateboard in history to utilize a concave on the top side of the board.

New School & Hybrid Series Boards

This is another great idea that started out as a simple idea, but later created a phenomenon in todays skateboard market. You will find that almost every board company from the years 2000-05 had a board selection that is titled and designed in a Series. Z-Flex was the first skateboard company to do this!

Z-Boyz Gen. I. 1976-77

Z-Flex was one of a handful of skate companies finding its way during the infancy of the skateboarding industry. With its well known Z-Boyz skate team, some better known for surfing, rather than skateboarding, they morphed a surf style into what today is known as "Old School" pool skating.

Jay Adams Uni-directional Fiberglass Skateboard

This board was universally considered the highest performing board of its time. The board was constructed of fiberglass and incorporated built-in rails and is our best selling board to this day.

Del Mar skate contest

The Del Mar contest was the monumental experience for the skateboarding world. The Z-Boyz made a huge impression with their aggressive yet fluid surf style which placed them high in the contest and left a dominating impression amongst the rest of the skateboard industry.

Z-Grooves Wheels, endorsed by Jimmy Plumer

Z-Flex was a pioneer in testing out new urethane and wheel designs in this era. The Z-Grooves were one of a kind and to this day, is a formula for which new wheels are based upon.
